Beach, beach, beach!

And there'll be more photos to come when I can be bothered uploading them.

Plus I might take the time to explain the absence of blogging lately at some point in the near future. I should get back to writing, as I haven't done much of it since the end of last year. It's been nice to have a break in some ways, but I need to keep up with some sort of practice.

Anyway. The weather today was gorgeous and the lighting in the late afternoon at the beach was lovely. I just need to hurry up and work out how to make my new camera all better so I can get back to using that as well as the point-and-shoot that's seriously on its way out.

^ Painting done for a wedding gift. And I should be in bed instead of blogging because I have to get up early tomorrow for said wedding. Darn insomnia and creative inspiration striking at the same time. Oh, incidentally, the painting's of the view of Melbourne from Mount Dandenong. More or less!

Before I bring you even more photos, I have to say oh my goodness.

Tal, the copyeditor, brought around my farewell pressie this afternoon. I nearly died of shock when I opened it. The box had all kinds of hilarious stuff written on it, which was good enough. But then opening the box, I find...

*drum roll*

A DSLR camera.

A CAMERA.

Oh. My. God.

You have NO idea how awesome the copyeditor is, by the way. And I'm still really shocked about it all. Tal, I wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv yoooooooooooooou!

Anyway, I took a few photos with it this morning, although I'm still struggling somewhat to get used to it. A DSLR is so different to the point-and-shoot little thing I've had for the past four years or so. It's amazing and tricky and I'm actually going to have to read the manual. But here's some pix:
