Unveiling the cake

^ Cake for the sake of cake. I like it. Work people like it.

We may all be hyperactive by the end of the day.

You ate that?

I feel ill.

Only a couple of slices.

So did a number of people from work, along with those who just had one slice.

Hopefully they're not puking like unicorns now.

Should I send you one for when you do the War & Peace thing? The artificial colouring may just help...

My children think this is the best cake ever and have commanded me to make it for their birthday. It's in November, so I'd better start stocking up on food colouring.

Mr Melody, on the other hand, thinks it looks like a Rainbow Lorikeet and does not condone the baking of wildlife.

I personally love the icing. I'm going to ice everything with it from now on: cakes, biscuits ... Mr Melody ...

Della said...

It's not a lorikeet stuffed in a pan! Promise! ;)

Wonder if the kids will still be hyperactive in December if you do end up making the cake for them? I should have thought about it and sent some cake with you for them! Oops :(

It was rather amusing how stunned people were about the colours. Hopefully they didn't end up swinging from their office lighting fixtures by their knees.

The icing was rather good... Hopefully Mr Melody doesn't mind being smothered in it! It's just the packets of icing that come with the cake mix, a little bit more butter than they recommend and a melted "block" of Lindt Lindor "irresistably smooth" dark chocolate with the smooth centres.

Mmm, icing...

OMG you made THAT cake!!!

I saw it ages ago and wanted to make it, but since I'm not really the baking type....

The cake looks awesome!

Della said...

Yup! :D

It's really easy - if you do packet mix cakes already, it's just that with some added colour ;)

Just wondering whether to make it again for the next board meeting?

Melody said...

LOL - you should! There'd be some interesting decisions after that I'm sure! ;)

As for packet mix cakes...no...:P I actually don't like the kitchen much.

Della said...

There's already been enough of those! :-p

Don't blame you for not liking the kitchen much. It always seems to lead to washing up.

Lucky you can knit! Otherwise you'd struggle to find yourself a good Adventist husband, unless you find one that's a chef. Then again, what the hell does an Adventist chef cook? Marinated Gluten Steak? Blah!

I feel sorry for you guys with your vegetarianism, especially because Ms. White was a tubby meat-eater.

Oh and also, can Melody or Maybe Melody please change their internet name? I get confused easily.

You are such a kidder Perseus ;)

thanks Della - it was a yum cake. i had a thought about it, why not put different flavours into each of the colours and have a rainbow coloured and flavoured cake. i was suggesting it to M and he thought it was a great idea...would be crazy, but so fun and yum!

I had sort of thought of the flavour thing when I was buying ingredients, but all the supermarket had in flavours were: rum, brandy, vanilla, banana and lemon. None had that much appeal...

But glad you enjoyed the cake anyways :)

Awesome cake. I think it would take me awhile to work up the courage to eat it though, it looks so unnatural. Although I would love the hyperactivity that would come with it.

Della said...

A lot of people commented about it being unnatural. It's like Frankencake or something - an abomination to the eyes of nature!

But it's a delicious abomination. And there was surprisingly little hyperactivity, which was sad. There'd probably be more if you ate more of the cake, though.

Anonymous said...

I know how to boost the hyperactivity. Eat cake and wizz fizz. I ate the one that turns you tongue blue and when I finally fell asleep I dreamt that I killed my entire family with a sharpened tooth brush.

Della said...

*wonders about Whizz Fizz icing*

Also, there's probably therapy you should be undergoing for those sort of dreams ;)

Anonymous said...

Probably. But it wasn't my real family, it was a made up dream family. Does that make it better?

Wizz fizz icing sounds fantastic

Della said...

I guess that helps a bit.

That icing could possibly work, although the sherbet does tend to do the fizz thing when it comes into contact with moisture and icing tends to be rather moist. So who knows..?

Kinda seems a bit Enid Blyton Magic Faraway Tree or something in a way.

Which reminds me, I've always wished I could come up with a recipe for pop biscuits. Google may know...

Hmm... There must be away to have serbert icing.

Also I know you can make pop rock chocolate.

Kel said...

this is the most awesome cake I've ever seen, and iced with Lindt chocolate!

WOW

whiz fizz icing sounds spectacular

go on
i dare you!

Della said...

I recommend the cake (and icing!). Just for the sheer fun value at least.

The Whizz Fizz idea is starting to tempt me more and more. I found three packets of the stuff in the cupboard while cleaning up the pantry tonight. Nothing to lose by trying it.

Unless it explodes or something ;-P

Deloceano said...

now, you could get pretty ramped up by eating the cake then snorting the wizz fizz i'm sure. but then it wouldn't really be the cake doing the hyper-making.

Della said...

Hmm... Could do. But I know of someone who snorted Wizz Fizz and apparently it made his nose bleed. Although that's only what I've heard from friends who were there when he did it. They didn't supply video evidence or anything.

Which is a shame, because it'd probably do alright YouTube.

Della said...

Gah! That should read "do alright on YouTube."

Clansi said...

I told him NOT to do it with a $10 note....

Della said...

A $50 probably would have been fine? ;)
