I think this photo was an AP one and is from the Halls Gap area following the bushfires last week.

There's something to it that I just find amazingly beautiful, even though it's an image of utter devestation to the area. It's like the world has come to an end and all that's left is you, a deafening silver silence that's reflected in the water and makes you want to tear your skin off, and the burnt plants.

Everything else is totally gone...

But then there's something elegant about the silence and the destruction that says "Come back in five year's time... This exact spot. See me then. Then you'll find out what Australia's about. Although I don't think you'll understand it even then."

Beautiful picture! It looks like a scene from a game or movie rather than the actual world. It just seems too perfect...

Elegant silence - now that is an under appreciated occurance!

It's amazing that, yes, it is destruction, but like you guys said, perfect and wonderous.

There's beauty everywhere, really.
