Storm in a tea house...

Okay, I was going to write about the Big Brother brouhaha earlier, but couldn't be bothered. But it's lunchtime now and the whole thing has just become one giant silly circus and hell, I think it's time to throw the monkeys in with a few thoughts.

When Claire msg'd me to say that Ash and John had been kicked out of the house, I was like, "Oh my goodness, must find out why!" So we went hunting and found a story on the Behind Big Brother website that said that they'd been removed for sexually assaulting Camilla.

Pretty shocking stuff, were it to be true!

And then of course all the stuff on Big Brother last night and evictions and whatnot... Lots of tears and Lamie sobbing his like lil' like heart out like in the like bathroom... But no footage of whatever happened. Then this morning it was on the news and Sunrise was shaking its head over it and being nice and righteous.

So, it's time to consult the Aus Culture blog, fount of a few things BB related! With more than 160 comments by 9am, it took time to read thru. And seeing the footage of it took a lil' bit of time too. The more you read and the more you see, the sillier and sillier the whole thing seems.

Really, it looked like it was just the three of them mucking about and joking. They stopped when she told them to and she had said that she wasn't all that bothered by it. You see the footage and think, "Okay, just where the heck did the assault claims made by BB come from?" And no, I'm not saying the guys did the right thing, just that there seems to be a lot of misinformation and stupidity surrounding the entire thing. There's a transcript of the incident here.

There also seems to be a fair bit of political milage in this too! Ugh. Surely they have more important things to consider like the way that the government is trying to take away voting rights for people! Read The Age's story by Brian Costar, Eroding our democracy.

But while thinking about The Age, this is what they've had to say with "the incident":
The incident has also split viewers of the show. Internet chat rooms dedicated to Big Brother have been busy with fans keen to give their two cents' worth, and while many are pleading against the show's axing, it seems the producers are in the firing line.
Many have described the actions of John and Ashley against housemate Camilla as a "joke gone horribly wrong" and have blamed the show for not intervening even though the household's occupants are monitored 24 hours a day.
"Why did Big Brother not intervene before it went to far?" wrote one chat room participant.
Others have denounced the incident as a publicity stunt, describing John and Ashley as "pawns in the game for ratings and profit".

Speaking of profit and punishment, if BB is so concerned about the housemates keeping the rules and kicking them out of if they don't, he should have given Jamie the boot ages ago. Shame on you, BB.
